Q: How does InfoTalk work?

A: InfoTalk lets you use your normal telephone to make phone calls over the Internet and save money. InfoTalk 7 lets you call any other InfoTalk 7 user anywhere in the world for just the cost of your Internet service. Using InfoTalk's patent-pending Talk2Talk ™ feature, no long distance charges apply whatsoever -- your InfoTalk 7 contacts the other InfoTalk 7, initiates its connection to the Internet, and automatically completes the connection over the Internet. Both InfoTalk devices will disconnect the PSTN long distance call and connect to their respective Internet Service Providers. InfoTalk will then automatically re-establish connection between both parties over the Internet. For the cost of Internet service for both parties and to establish the connection, InfoTalk lets you enjoy your conversation over the Internet for as long as you like. The process of making an InfoTalk-to-InfoTalk call is as simple as making a normal call followed by the # key.

Q: Do I need a PC to use InfoTalk?

A: No, just connect InfoTalk between your phone and the wall jack. InfoTalk is a stand-alone device with all the power and capability needed for Internet communication.

Q: What do I need to use InfoTalk?

A: In addition to a standard telephone, you must have dial-up access to the Internet in order to use InfoTalk. InfoTalk works with any Internet Service Provider that supports the PPP (PAP-authentication) protocol, one of the most commonly used protocols for dial-up connection to the Internet. Certain online services such as AOL and Delphi, however, do not support PPP and will not work with InfoTalk. With an Internet account and InfoTalk, you can call any other InfoTalk user. To call any phone in over 200 countries whether or not they have InfoTalk, you must additionally have an InnoSphere account.

A: InnoMedia's InnoSphere is a global communications network that uses InnoMedia's InfoGate voice-over-IP technology. Q: Can I call a phone number that does not have InfoTalk and still save money?

A: You must first have InfoTalk 7 and an InnoSphere account. Then, after pressing the I button, you will see "InnoSphere Calls:" on the InfoTalk screen. Dial the desired destination phone number without the international long distance access code you normally use, and remember to end with the # key. InfoTalk will connect to the Internet and dial the specified phone number via InnoSphere. Within seconds, users will hear the usual ringing (ringback) tone and can begin conversing once the remote party answers.

Q: How good is the voice quality? Is it like a regular phone?

A: InfoTalk uses digital speech compression to support voice communications over the Internet. The voice quality that you experience is directly related to the instantaneous level of Internet traffic and the quality of the connections to the Internet that you and any InfoTalk user you call may have. The technology of InfoTalk is designed to provide high voice quality with minimum delay, but it may not sound as good as a regular phone. InfoTalk's Performance Tuning feature allows you to extend the delay that you experience in order to improve voice quality during periods of heavy Internet traffic.

Q: How do I enter my Internet account information into InfoTalk?

A: You may enter the required information concerning your Internet Service Provider account through your phone. Configuring InfoTalk is as easy as entering information into your mobile phone.

Q: How do I make a Talk2Talk call if my InfoTalk is already online?

A: If your InfoTalk is in on-line mode, the procedure for InfoTalk-to-InfoTalk calls is relatively the same. To dial from InfoTalk 7 (online) to another InfoTalk 7 (online) follow these procedures:

  1. Press the SQUARE button
  2. See "TALK2TALK" on screen
  3. Dial the remote User Phone number
  4. Press the CIRCLE button or the # key on the phone pad
  5. Wait for connection

Online Talk2Talk method is the same as the Online Savedial method for InfoTalkV. Online Talk2Talk is very useful for InfoTalk Caller who does not have long distance calling facility to call an overseas InfoTalk 7 callee.

A: InfoTalk 7 is secured to H.323 (G723.1) Internet Telephony Standard that provides better voice quality and reliability.

A: Yes, InfoTalk now supports dual languages. You can now change the display language on your InfoTalk 7 to English,or Spanish.

Q: Is InfoTalk 7 the same as InfoTalk V?

A: Yes, InfoTalk 7 and InfoTalk V are functionally the same. However, InfoTalk 7 does not have the Remote Answer PSTN Call, then press # function which is present in both InfoTalk V and InfoTalk 3.0. Information Mode I button in InfoTalk V has been replaced by InnoSphere Calls in InfoTalk 7 i.e. Gatedial Left button in InfoTalk V.
